Since [livejournal.com profile] triela_gg asked for pictures of the frogs~

There are quite a lot of frogs and toads in the garden. The one in the picture above was temporarily put in a bucket when we mowed the grass, so as not to cut it into itty bitty pieces with the mower. The big frogs are usually able to flee, but the toads seem determined to sit and hope, and the tiny frogs are too small to escape, so I generally search through the grass and catch them beforehand.

This particular one was a bit too big for the bucket chosen, as it jumped up on the rim, but it didn't seem particularly determined to leave. Sat still while I took quite a number of pics, nearly touching its nose with the camera.

The tiny baby frogs that crawled out of the pond in late spring/early summer were super small. As you can see, they were smaller than the nail on my pinky finger.

They were very easy to catch too. Not as easy as they were to catch when they were still tadpoles though. You could catch three to five tadpoles with your hand and no effort. It's a miracle any of them survived, considering that the newts love to eat them. The tadpoles are not exactly observant - when the newt eats one, the others around it just keep feeding and ignore it. So the newt moves on to the next and the next, until it is round and fat.

Newts are a lot harder to catch, but it's totally worth it. So cute! And just like frogs and toads, not slimy at all. their little feet tickle when they walk over your palm!

Next is a picture of one of the big frogs swimming in the pond, as well as a water lily and a few of my fishy minions. My fishy minions keep multiplying, soon there will be enough of them to help me take over the world!

Here is the big one from the beginning of this post again.

And a close-up. Silly thing didn't care how close I came with the camera!

Here a picture of the itty bitty frogs from earlier - how they've grown! less than half a year later, they are already round and fat and so big~ Bigger than the nail of my thumb, as you can see.

And lastly, a frog watching me from the water. He was sitting beside the pond, enjoying the sunlight, but got scared when I walked past. It seems he was too lazy to swim away, instead opting to wait and see if it would be safe to come back outside soon.
